Commitment
Call Charlie is committed to making the contractor directory accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. I aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
What I've Done
- Semantic HTML: Proper heading hierarchy, landmark regions, and ARIA labels throughout the directory
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard
- Color contrast: Text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios against the dark background
- Screen readers: Alt text on images, proper link text, structured data for assistive technology
- Responsive design: The directory works across devices and screen sizes
- Reduced motion: Animations respect the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting - Touch targets: Interactive elements meet minimum 48px touch target size on mobile
Known Limitations
As a growing directory with 161,000+ pages, some areas may not yet meet all accessibility standards. I'm actively working to improve coverage. Known areas under development:
- Some older page templates may have color contrast issues in specific UI components
- Interactive map features depend on Google Maps accessibility
- PDF documents (if any) may not be fully accessible
